The BITM SUSTAINA Sustainable Group successfully planned an event as part of the Student Induction Program on September 26th, 2024.The event's primary objectives were to emphasize student responsibility and raise knowledge of environmental sustainability. The purpose of the event was to develop civic sense among the students and also raise awareness of the negative impact of plastic pollution on the environment in order to teach students about sustainable trash management, a focus was placed on demonstrating how used plastic might be converted into environmentally acceptable bricks

Talk on Civic Responsibilities

In order to help students understand their responsibilities as members of society, the event began with a civic awareness talk. Topics covered included maintaining clean public areas and managing waste properly, emphasizing how even small daily actions can have a significant impact on creating a well-organized and environmentally friendly community.

Quiz

The presentation ended with a development-focused quiz designed to check participants' knowledge of important topics such as waste management strategies and renewable energy sources, as well as their awareness of environmental conservation initiatives.

Eco brick activity

At the end of the day, everyone came together for a practical workshop on creating eco bricks from recycled plastic materials to use as building blocks of bigger ones. This is a creative way to address the problem of plastic waste and encourage participants to switch to sustainable practices while providing valuable information on waste management and recycling initiatives in a fun and visible way.

In conclusion

The event conducted by BITM SUSTAINA Sustainable Group at student induction program was a huge success! The agenda's combination of workshops and practical experiences helped participants understand their civic duties and how they might support environmental initiatives. The students’ positive comments demonstrated the initiative's effectiveness in increasing environmental preservation awareness.
