The Department of Electronics and Communication at BITM organized a six-day workshop from 18th to 22nd August 2025 on “Edge AI & Embedded Intelligence,” coordinated by Dr. Abdul Lateef Haroon P S. The workshop brought together multiple expert speakers who delivered comprehensive sessions covering Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, IoT, and Edge Computing.
The program began with Dr. Mohammed Farukh Hashmi, who introduced the fundamentals of AI and ML, along with concepts such as SVM, multimodal systems, and neural networks. This was followed by Prabhudeva V H, who explained IoT architecture and real-world applications, emphasizing the importance of edge computing in modern systems. Subsequent sessions focused on Edge AI and Embedded ML, where participants learned about the ML pipeline, hardware selection, and real-time applications through demonstrations like gesture control using TinyML.
Further sessions explored advanced topics such as Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), including their architecture, innovations, and practical implementations. Participants also gained insights into multitask learning and optimization techniques. The workshop concluded with a specialized session on AI in audiology, demonstrating how intelligent systems are transforming healthcare technologies.
Overall, the workshop provided a strong blend of theoretical knowledge and practical exposure, enabling students to understand emerging trends and applications in AI-driven smart devices and IoT systems.
