One-Day Workshop on Surface Engineering & Functional Coatings at IISc Bangalore

6thsemester students participated in a one-day workshop on Surface Engineering and Functional Coatings held on 21 February 2026 at Indian Institute of Science in association with ASM International, Bangalore The workshop introduced the importance of surface engineering in improving material performance . Students learned why most engineering failures begin at surfaces and how proper surface treatment increases service life while reducing maintenance costs. The workshop provided practical insight into real-world applications across automotive and aerospace industries, helping students connect academic concepts with modern engineering practices.
